An Energy Advisor is a trained and licensed individual who conducts home evaluations to determine a home’s energy efficiency on behalf of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) through a licensed service organization. Energy Advisors also consult with builders and homeowners at the planning stage of new home and retrofit construction to assist in energy efficient home design. Energy Advisors provide a component of quality assurance once work is completed on homes qualified to be labeled under NRCan’s housing initiatives: EnerGuide Rating System. This 8-day Energy Advisor Workshop will provide training on:
(Participants are required to have a computer and a calculator – NO MACS PLEASE) Additional Steps not included in this workshop Step 2 – Student Mentoring Includes (However, not provided by CHBA-NB): If a participant decides, after the training outlined in Step 1, to continue to obtain certification and begin working as a Licensed Energy Advisor the participant will be required to engage into a mentoring agreement with a Licensed Service Organization. Participants are encouraged to consult with Licensed NB Power Service Organizations directly to determine Energy Advisor Career Availability. Service Organizations will be responsible to provide the mentorship required for licensing. Cost: Consult a Licensed Service Organization of Natural Resources Canada and NB Power. Step 3 – Third-Party Examination – Provided by Natural Resources Canada (However, not provided by CHBA-NB): Energy advisors will be required to pass a Foundation Level Exam and an Energy Advisor Exam upon completion of Step 2 to obtain Certification. These exams are administered by third-party test centres located across Canada. All exam costs are the responsibility of the candidate. It is important to note that as a Certified Energy Advisor you must maintain an affiliation with a Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) approved Service Organization.
