In this workshop calendar, you will find training for both HVAC Installers and Energy Advisors(EAs). All workshops will be delivered virtually unless otherwise indicated. Registration for the HVAC workshops will be limited to one individual per company. If you have others from your company who would like to take the training, they will be added to a wait-list, and then if space permits, registered for the workshop. |

Residential Ventilation using Section 9.32 of the Building Code |
Participants will use simple worksheets in conjunction with detailed design procedures to quickly select equipment, size ducts and specify installation and control details necessary to design ventilation systems. All content complies with Section 9.32 of the NBC/OBC/BCBC. Participants will also clearly understand when the circumstances fall outside the scope of 9.32, which will require the use of a more comprehensive standard such as CSA F326. |

Depressurization Testing of Residential Systems |
The participant will receive the necessary skills and knowledge to do a depressurization test to one of the three national standards as referenced in the National Building Code and elsewhere; CSA F326, CSA F300, CGSB 51.71. We start with a comparison of the standards and depressurization limits then, a discussion of the necessary testing equipment. Included in the manual is a depressurization worksheet with an extensive setup checklist and test procedures. |

Residential Heat Loss & Heat Gain Calculations |
Based on the CSA Standard F280-12, students get a firsthand introduction of the basic principles of building science and heat loss/gain. Through various in-class exercises, the student will learn how to determine the thermal resistance (R- value) of various building assemblies, such as walls and ceilings. Accurately, calculate room by room heat loss and gain while considering the influences of occupancy, exposure, ventilation, air leakage across the building envelope and more. |

National Building Code (NBC) Update |
The changes made to the National Building Code between the 2015 and 2020 editions will be reviewed. An opportunity will be given to participants for questions or comments, with respect to these changes. *Only one NBC Update or the full NBC Workshop is required. |

Participants will use extensive worksheets in conjunction with detailed procedures to select equipment, size ducts and specify installation and control details necessary to design ventilation systems that satisfy building code requirements throughout Canada based on the National CSA F326 standard. CSA F326 allows for much greater flexibility and has no scope restrictions compared to local building codes. |

4-Day Full National Building Code (NBC) |
This 4-day workshop is a comprehensive treatment of Canada’s 2015 Objective-Based National Building Code, Part 9: The House (NBC). The NBC is recognized in most of Canada as the minimum standard for technical provisions in the design and construction of new buildings. The Code also applies to the demolition, renovation, and alterations of existing buildings. This course will guide the student through the new Objective-Based approach, providing opportunities to use the Code in practical exercises and discussions. A final exam will be administered after 2 days of study and again on the last day. |
