New home construction in NB finished 2013 with 2843 housing starts. Each new home built in New Brunswick is not only a roof over the heads of a family – it also provides thousands of jobs and generates significant dollars in taxes, fees and levies for all three levels of government.
20,500 Direct Jobs in 2013
New Brunswick’s residential construction industry generates employment with every home built or renovation completed. There were a total of 28,500 construction related jobs in NB in 2013 with 72% of those in the residential construction industry. Construction is New Brunswick’s 5th largest job producer.
One Billion in Wages
New Brunswick’s home building and renovation community provided one-billion dollars in wages to workers throughout the province. These wages are evidenced in purchases made throughout the local economy.
1.4 Billion in Investment Value by the Renovation
Sector New Brunswick’s renovation community alone contributes 15,600 jobs, $800 Million in wages which are spent in the local economy and 1.4 billion dollars in investment value to New Brunswick home owners.
